Description

Required:
1. Minimum 3+ years software test experience.
2. Experience with software test methodologies.
3. Experience with IP devices.
4. Proficient with Windows/Linux operating systems.
5. Knowledgeable of TCP/IP standard protocols and network technologies.
6. Strong analytical skills with the ability to approach test and validation problems scientifically.
7. Experience writing test plans, test cases and use case scenarios.
8. Experience with Defect Management – clear and concise defect reports along with defect metrics.
9. Proficient with software engineering and development lifecycles and methodologies.
10. Ability to think in a logical and systematic way to solve problems, incorporate suggestions and create solutions.
11. Ability to pay attention to detail, multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
12. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, company management and fellow employees.
13. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with those contacted in the course of work, both in oral and written form.
14. Ability to work in a culturally diverse workplace with people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and beliefs.


Desirable:
1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field of study and/or equivalent work experience.
2. Experience with Video Codec (MPEG4, MJPEG, H.265).
3. Experience with embedded testing.
4. Experience with hardware concepts and prototype assembly.
5. Experience with scripting languages; Python, Ruby, PHP, Perl.
6. Technical training in software development life-cycle (SDLC) methodologies.

Job Description:

1. Understands software test processes, procedures and execution, to include elements of test plan and test case design, test process change and reporting test results.
2. Understands the fundamentals of defect administration.
3. Develops comprehensive test cases; responsible for ensuring test cases developed are reviewed and approved by peers, SQE Test Leads and SQE Test Engineering Manager.
4. Responsible for status reporting on Jira tasks, defects, test case execution, test results; updates hours in tracking systems.
5. Mentors SQE Test Specilialists on processes and procedures.
6. Interacts daily with SQE Team Leads, SQE Test Engineers, Engineering, and when needed, with Tech Writers and Product Support.
7. Understands test tools: Jira, TestLink, Cacti and other performance monitoring tools.
8. Understands operating environments: Windows, Linux, Networks.
9. Understands Video Codec and different compression technologies.
10. Understands the software development life cycle (SDLC).
11. Adheres to health, fire and safety regulations; identifies potential safety hazards and reports such to the Vice President of Human Resources.
12. Upholds Pelco's Commitment to Excellence standards at all times.
13. Performs related duties as assigned.
